We play modern board games aimed at adults. A massive past time in Germany and America that is becoming more popular all over Europe. Ever heard of Puerto rico? carcassonne? Settlers of Catan? ticket to ride? For the uninitiated - imagine chess merged with cluedo, risk and monopoly - without any dice rolling. Some games require luck but most use skill & thinking, however it is surprisingly easy and wonderfully varied. Don't just play games at Christmas enjoy them all year round!!

Lindy Hop is the original swing partner dance that emerged from the Afro-American jazz dance tradition in 1930's Harlem. Today it is danced by a growing number of people all over the world. Developed in the streets and above all a social dance, Lindy Hop is based on lead / follow technique and creativity rather than a set choreography - once you have learned the basic steps, there is a lot of room for improvisation. Lindy Hop is danced at all tempos and to many different kinds of music, ranging from traditional jazz and blues to funk and hip-hop.

The Maddermarket Theatre has a thriving Youth Theatre, providing the first
important steps for young people aged 6 to 18 years, wanting to make a career in
the theatre or those who want to have a hobby that gives them a unique way of
expressing themselves. The classes
cover a wide range of activities designed to
develop drama skills and to encourage students to develop their imaginations,
communication skills and teamwork, whilst being fun. The classes are run by our
professional staff, with visiting tutors giving tuition in other areas of
theatre making, such as lighting, sound, stage combat, costume and mask-work.
Students are encouraged to make full use of the theatres facilities, with
opportunities to perform in the main theatre and to explore the many departments
within the building.
Youth theatre classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays, and
after school hours on various weekdays at the theatre, with class times and fees
according to age. Terms are ten weeks (with a break for half term), and follow
the academic year. Students may return each term and rise through the age
groups.
We also organise group outings to go and see places of
theatrical interest such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and to
Stratford-Upon-Avon. Being known for our professional training standards, we
have also been called upon to provide young actors for local TV and film
productions. As a member of the Maddermarket Youth Theatre, you are entitled to
discounts on particular shows at the theatre.
