Norwich City Council Green Spaces Department manages over one hundred acres
of allotments in Norwich and have a selection of sizes of plots ranging from 150
to 500 square metres. On a few plots they have Organic areas for organic
gardeners.
When you take on an allotment you will be given an
Allotment Welcome Pack. This pack is full of information to get you
started.

An Allotment Officer is responsible for the inspecting of
allotments on a daily basis, ordering repairs, attending user groups meetings
and promoting allotments.
A good amount of exercise, fresh air and new skills, together with fresh fruit and vegetables for most of the year.

| Garlic cloves in a pint of boiling water, cool and strain, use this to spray on vegetables to prevent aphid attack. | |
| Use fleece to protect young seedlings and to prevent aphid attack on more mature plants. | |
| Mulch plants with straw or old compost to retain water during summer and prevent weed growth. | |
| Plant garlic/marigolds next to carrots to prevent carrot fly. | |
| If you are still a smoker keep the cigarette ends in a bucket and fill with water. The liquid dependant on strength is a good fungicide. |
Be a winner of one of our competitions that are held each year. During September each year we hold an Allotment Fayre and invite allotment holders to have a stall and sell their surplus fruit and vegetables.
