Berney Arms Mill

The tallest windpump in the country, wonderful views of the marshes. Access by boat, train (Berney Arms Halt) and footpaths from Halvergate and Great Yarmouth. Contact: 01799 522842

Caley Mill Norfolk Lavender

Gardens of Lavenders and herbs, fragrant meadow garden, gift shop, fragrant plant centre, plant oil distillery, cottage tea room and children's play area.
Open all year except Dec.25th & 26th and 1st Jan.

Caley Mill, the headquarters of Norfolk Lavender, was originally a water mill for grinding corn. Built in the local carrstone in the 19th century, and now set in its gardens of lavender, roses and herbs, it has become a distinctive Norfolk landmark .In the grounds we also have a National Collection of Lavenders. Each variety or species, has its own bed. There are about 50 different lavenders to see, although if there is any risk of frost, the half hardy and tender ones are kept indoors.

Horsey Windpump (National Trust)

A restored drainage windpump built in 1912 that affords striking views across Horsey Mere, one of the Norfolk Broads. Fine views of reed-beds and the wild watery landscape.

St Olaves Windpump

A tiny boarded windpump, situated north of St Olaves, reached by footpath from the bridge. For a key please contact Bridge Stores in St Olaves. Tel  01493 488230.

Stracey Arms Windpump

Restored to working order, with photographic display on history of Broads drainage mills. Situated beside River Bure on main road between Acle and Great Yarmouth.
Open: early April to Sept daily 9am till 8pm.

Reputedly the tallest surviving windmill in the country, with nine floors. Also varied museum collection.

A visit to Sutton Mill the famous Norfolk landmark makes a pleasant trip into the Norfolk countryside. Enjoy superb views of the surrounding country and coastline from the top outside viewing gallery.
The historic corn mill was built over 200 years ago and was in use until 1940. You can see the complete milling machinery, four sets of millstones, sack hoist and nine floors. The corn milling machinery is considered to be the finest in the area.

Museum

Items collected from everyday life over the past few hundred years, with some rare and unusual items put together during the last 40 years by serious preservers.
