Programme 2011

Castle Gardens.- Whiffler Theatre situated at the side of Norwich Castle (in the moat).

The Whiffler Comedy Night  on the 7th July from 8pm until 10pm (over 18s only). Doors open at 7pm.
    Contact: Tourist Information Centre on 01603 213999. Mike Gunn a Self-confessed pessimist is superbly dark and unflinchingly funny, Ben Norris can work any crowd with his arsenal of sharp lines. Otiz Cannelloni has a mind more suited to testing crash helmets, fluctuating between sheer genius and downright stupidity.
    Cost: £7.50, (£6 Go 4less) in advance from the Tourist Information Centre - £10 at the door. On site bar - no other alcohol allowed.

Friday 8th July
    Whiffler Theatre: A Midsummer Night's Dream at 7.30pm. Presented by Far East Theatre Company. Set in the 1980s, with New Romantic fairies and Sloane Ranger lovers, this is a fast-paced and dynamic treat for all ages to enjoy.

Sunday 10th July
    Whiffler Theatre: The Taming of the Shrew at 3pm. Presented by Heartbreak Productions. Performed in the great outdoors, everyone in Padua wants to marry Bianca, but she isn't free until her sister finds a husband - a battle of wills ensues.

Chapelfield Gardens - 100 metres from the Theatre Royal, Norwich.

These gardens are in the heart of the city - toddlers play area - cafe - band stand. Events staged though-out the year.

Saturday 9th July
    11am until 5pm: Clowns, Punch & Judy, bush-craft and treasure hunting.

Chapelfield Gardens Stage - 1pm until 10:30pm
          1pm - 4.30pm. BBC Norfolk Introducing - local band showcase. The best of Norwich's up-and-coming bands, including Cakes and Ale, and We Can't Dance.
           5pm - 6pm. Belleruche. Described as 'handmade hip-hop blues soul', London's Belleruche blends a variety of genres into one cool style.
           6.30pm - 7.30pm. Kasai Masai. Nkoso, Kasai bring us the traditional sound of the remote villages of Africa, with an urban twist.
           8pm - 10pm. Magic of Take That. A night you'll never forget, the most exciting Robbie Williams and Take That tribute show on tour. With a cast of superbly - choreographed singers and true-to-life vocals, plus spectacular special effects and lighting design.

Sunday 10th July
    1pm until 4pm: Clowns, Punch & Judy, bush-craft and treasure hunting.

Earlham Park - near the University of East Anglia, Watton Road, Norwich.

A park with the River Yare running through it - popular open space for walking, with a riverside path to the UEA -
 venue for open-air events and Hot Air Balloons taking off at certain times of the year. Cafe.

Sparks in the Park - Saturday 5th November 5pm until 10pm
                No parking on site this year except for blue badge holders
                No fireworks, sparklers, glass bottles, alcohol or dogs allowed into the park during the event.

Getting there
    First Buses
Service 25 and 35 departures from all normal stops, including Thorpe railway station, Castle Meadow, St Stephens St, to and from the event. Buy a Sparks ticket in advance, show it to the driver and get a reduced bus fare.
    Thickthorn Park & Ride operated by Konectbus from 5pm until 10pm
Return fares, adult £2, child £1 (aged 5 to15). Pay on the bus not at the machines.

    Large open area for group games e.g. football, cricket, baseball - plus several children's play areas. Norwich BMX track (several lanes). Park leads down to the river where it interconnects with cycle and walking paths.

Waterloo Park - situated between Angel Road and Aylsham Road.

Well equipped children's play-area with paddling pool - sports facilities - tennis, putting, bowls - country's longest herbaceous border.
