Description of the Various Skills

Aikido

    A thoughtful art from Japan. Uses an opponents energy and momentum against them to take them down. Lots of rolling and falling. Regular grading. Separate junior class.

Auto Defence

    Favoured by the legendary Bruce Lee in his early days. Very practical close up self defence.

Chikung / Yang Taichi Chuan

    Students of Grandmaster Doc-fai Wong. HQ of UK. Chikung is the practice of cultivating internal energy called Chi. It compliments all martial art practices.

Choy Li Fut Kung Fu

    Students of Grandmaster Doc-fai Wong. HQ of UK. Complete system, comprising of many forms, including ten animals, thirty six weapons and drunken forms. An excellent cardiovascular workout. Separate junior class.

Crane, Tiger and Dragon Kung Fu

    Mixture of animal style, well-rounded syllabus and some weapon work. Regular grading and separate junior class.

Dynamic Yoga

    A series of stretches and postures to promote flexibility and strength. Any loose clothing.

ER Taekwondo

    From Korea, similar to Hapkido, lots of kicking, beginning to incorporate more locks and throws than in previous years. Regular grading and some juniors in the class.

Gojuryu Karate

    High standard traditional karate from Okinawa, plenty of fitness and conditioning work. White suits, regular grading.

Hapkido

    Hapkido is a Korean martial art with dynamic kicking, hand strikes, judo, and self defence. Because it covers all aspects, Hapkido is often described as the complete martial art. The World Koong Joong Hapkido Association is the most establish Hapkido association in Great Britain, with a history beginning in 1970.

IBF Ju Jitsu

    Practical self-defence classes run by former prison officers. Contains grappling and restraining techniques. Any loose clothing.

Jang T'ai Chi (PD)

    Slow and gentle martial art from China. Emphasises good posture and body awareness. Aids concentration and     relaxation. Any loose clothing, no grading.

Judo

    An Olympic sport, derived from forms of ju-jitsu throws, hold-downs for juniors, seniors learn these plus strangles and arm-locks. Good confidence booster. White suit, regular grading.

Jeet Kune Do / Kali

    Bruce Lee's constantly evolving plus Philipino stick and knife work.

Koong joong Hapkido

    'Karate' from Korea, a well-rounded syllabus of blocks, kicks (some high), punches, locks and throws. Regular grading. Separate junior class.

Shotokan Karate

    Traditional karate from Japan. Noted for it's dynamic and sharp techniques, attention given to strong basics, forms and effective self-defence. Bag-work and grappling. White suits, regular grading and separate junior classes.

Unicorn Chinese Arts

    A highly sophisticated fast aggressive Chinese close combat system.
